Airport improvements on schedule in Hobart

Wednesday 10/05/2017 - Source: ABC News Online

Hobart International Airport's $15 million upgrade is on schedule.

The central check in hall for all three airlines and a baggage hall have been built between the international and domestic terminals, linking the two.

A $3 million checked bag screening system is being installed, making Hobart the only airport in the state to ensure that all passenger luggage is x-rayed.

The airport's chief executive officer Wayne Tucker says a test run of all operations will begin in around five weeks.

"It should be operable on the 15th of June and that would enable us then to test the systems so that it's actually fully operational and working on the first of August as we're legally required to do," Mr Tucker said.
